ALPHA DELTA PI LOVES THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Throughout the year, we give back to the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville, SC by visiting multiple times a month. We have sisters volunteer to make dinner and cookies for the families who are staying there. Sisters can also save their can tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.
There are many philanthropy events that we put on and have put on in the past to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Some of these events include the Pi Spike Beach Volleyball Tournament and JLF Memorial Golf Tournament. These events raise thousands of dollars for the Ronald McDonald House each year. Because of our support over the years, the Greenville Ronald McDonald House has been able to expand and renovate their facility.
This is important to our chapter because the Ronald McDonald House Charities is where many families spend several weeks or months to get treatment in the Greenville Health System for their seriously ill or injured Children. A Ronald McDonald House is a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by to their hospitalized child at little or no cost. Sisters of Alpha Delta Pi cook meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald house, but in order to support their needs we also try to provide some financial support in the form of donating money that we raise on their behalf.
The Jennifer Lauren Farrell Golf Tournament is in support of a sister that passed away 17 years ago as well as Alpha Delta Pi Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The contributions from the tournament go towards the Jennifer L. Farrell Endowed Scholarship and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Jennifer L. Farrell Endowed Scholarship provides help for incoming freshman students from Jennifer's high school in Cobb County, Georgia.
This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at the Walker Course at Clemson University. To learn more or to sign up for the tournament, please see visit the JLF information site here.
The JLF Golf Tournament this year was held on Saturday April 6, 2019 at the Walker Golf Course in Clemson, SC. What a special day for the Farrell family and Zeta Nu! With the help of our JLF chair, Beth Chard, Clemson Alpha Delta Pi was able to host this event for the very FIRST TIME! — We are beyond blessed and excited to have had this opportunity to raise around $20,000 for the Jennifer Farrell Endowment Fund, RMH and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation.
“It was an honor to lead the JLF Golf Tournament! Working on such a big even really pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me become a better leader. I know that this is an event I will remember for the rest on my life! The Farrell family is so appreciative of all ADPi Zeta Nu members coming together to make this event a success! We raised about $20,000 that will benefit the Jennifer Farrell Endowment Fund, RMHC, and the ADPi Foundation! Remembering Jennifer’s legacy brings our chapter together and reminds me of what a great organization I am a part of!”
